Disaster Movie review

This assignment was to review a movie of your choice with a partner while experiencing the process of pre-production, production, and post production through making this review film. The purpose of this assignment was to gather all we learned through out this elective including our FE journeys and getting a hands on experience making our own film. My partner LS and I gave a negative review on the Disaster Movie. I learned a lot of things in Ollywood. Ollywood opened my eyes to a new format of creativity. The most challenging part for me was participating. I feel like I could of participated way more which felt like a struggle sometimes getting my voice in something so new you don't know much about. In the contrary i did a lot of listening my mind kind of exploded of all the perspectives I was learning from Brent, my classmates, FE, films, producers, and Benjamin. What I am mostly proud of is my thrive to take film in my own hands. LD and I have started filming several days non stop of anything that walks our way its an experience i am loving right now and who knows maybe in the future to.

Sherbet Ice cream is the best in the Market

In my opinion sherbet ice cream is the best flavor in the world. It has this fruity sensation you cant say no to. The day I tried sherbet ice cream i was not aware it was sherbet. Basically i found my soulmate without knowing.

I Am Malala

This course was about gender inequality. The purpose of this assignment was to reflect what we are learning throughout every course and connect it to Malala. I learned to take gender inequality more serious and important. Nothing was challenging about our lesson personally as it was easy to take in. I am mostly proud of all the debates about serious topics we were able to have within each other.

New York City Weather

For our third action project in our H2O course we are taken at closer look in clouds. The purpose of this assignment was to investigate your chosen city and see the type of climate change that affects it. I learned a lot about the severe climate change we are dealing with. The challenging part was piecing all the information I learned in a way it tied all together. I am mostly proud at how much I learned in all of this course.

U.S.A v.s Mongolia

This assignment was to compare America's similarities or differences of women inequality with any country you prefer. The purpose of this essay to open your eyes on how equality is a big challenge that should be taken seriously as it can effect in many other severe challenges. I was already socially aware I just learned statistics. I am mostly proud of the knowledge I gained through these inequalities women have to go through in their daily lives.

Would you rather take a ride to America or Mongolia? The domestic violence to equal pay for women and marriage choices are things you might want to consider by answering my question. As a female, you might question these inequalities just to live a normal life unlike a male living with power by his gender and not by his character. America and Mongolian are far apart from distance but not from the achievement of goals. Mongolia and America are fighting for the equality as they have support systems and programs to help women have power in many categories as just equal payment, domestic violence, and marriage choices are just some.

America is one of the richest developed countries who also fight for the simplicity of equality. According to Soraya, Chemaly women experience partner violence 1 in 3. This might seem like a small number but compared to the male it is 1 in 7 who experience domestication. The equality in payment is also a struggle to have since we have decided as a society to pay women 77 cents for every dollar a male makes as Tanya Somander stated. No matter if you are struggling to make ends meat or got your own reputation in wealth you have to keep in mind a guy is still making more than you based on a gender knowing it wasn't’ your choice to be who you are physical. The marriage choice can be given by the law or by tradition. Many parents that came from very strict countries and come to America may follow the same lifestyle. Therefore we still have some marriage choices, not including America does give rights to marry whoever you want.

Mongolia unemployment of female in 2014 was 4.8% according to The World Bank. Knowing Mongolia is in between China and Russia you will think they are in a bad position on growth which there are obviously not. Mongolia marriage choices is not a big deal as America. They have the same freedom to marry on the law of being at least 18. The domestication of women in a form of rape or assault can be punished by imprisonment. Although there is no law specifically targeting the spousal rape. As NGOs said it is mostly under-reported.

There are many differences and similarities between Mongolia and United States. Marriage choices, domestic violence, and equal payment are very similar but tackled differently in these two countries. Marriage choices are both on the same understatement of marrying whoever you want. The equal payment of women is the same in 77 cents for every dollar a man makes which is an unsatisfactory similarity. Domestic violence is still an unclear topic that has many cooperation helping this but never passed by a severe law. Mongolia has a lower rate of women labor force of 4.8% as U.S.A has 6%. That is the biggest difference they have rather than the different programs that help the women.

One thing Mongolia and U.S can feed off each other is spreading their cause to help a bigger audience. Instead of different cooperation make limited big companies have an easier resource to a support system. On making their country a better place their at the right path to have many organization to support these women in need. I found out how similar these both countries are in making a change.

Dont be a Water Killer, Invest in a Water Filter

In our first action we learned about the importance of water, which took us in depth with clean water and learning how a filtration works. This action project in my Water class is about making your own working water filter with natural resources. We were given the choice of different water sources to filter and I chose river water from our first action project. We will then calculate the pH before and after filtration and turn them into a logarithmic equation. The purpose of this action project was to get a deeper look into filtration and see how it works from a hands on perspective. We were able to connect with this project as an individual by making water filters, as well as on a field experience as we saw how Chicago gets its water and how it's filtered. One of the things that stood out from all the things we learned was the field experience. Knowing I am a visual learner it was surprising to me that I was able to experience how I get my water delivered so fast no matter where I am. The most challenging part for me was the logarithms. Logarithms were challenging because math is one of the subjects I'm not the strongest at but once I figured it out it was a satisfying feeling. From the whole experience I am mostly proud of my water filter. Even though I did not get great results it was awesome to know how easy it is to make one knowing purchasing a water filter can get pretty expensive.

My water filter will be organized by the biggest to smallest similar to the ground water filtration. For example bigger particles from the water will be filtered with bigger rocks. Smaller particles from the river water will be left behind but filtered by the sand and charcoal.

Materials:

-Sand
-Rocks
-Charcoal
-Sponges
-Fishnet cloth
-Coffee filters
-Gatorade bottle
-Scissors
-Tape

 Procedure:

  1. I first rinsed off any excess liquid in my gatorade bottle, then I cut about an inch at the bottom of the bottle to have the funnel effect.
  2. I replaced the bottle cap with layered fishnet cloth.
  3. Then I layered each material bottom to top using coffee filter, charcoal, sponge, sand, sponge, rocks, and sponge.
  4.  Once I was done layering my water bottle I tested the pH level with the river water and got 3.8 before and after.

Equality in Education

Equality in Education is a problem that should be taken seriously. Education is a basic need that should be provided everywhere and to everyone. As a person who cares about the society, we should guide the next generation to a pass of success.

According to United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, 124 million children and adolescents are out of school. Based on UNESCO two-thirds of 774 million illiterate people in the world are female. This ties with the fact that if we provided equal education to girls as we do with boys our society would have less early age pregnancies and fewer malnutrition children according to UNESCO. Education is a basic need that should be fulfilled equally regardless of gender and economic status.
Without education, we would be a chaotic society in a way with no progress, skills, or sustainable to live. The equality in education would fall on basic need on Maslow's hierarchy. Without education, our society would not live a sustainable life, therefore, not move up the “stairs of a fulfilling life”.

A child's background plays a big role in the level of success they are given. According to APA, school systems in low SES communities have fewer resources; therefore, kids can't learn to their fullest potential, unlike High SES school. APA states knowing low SES communities aren't given enough resources it damages kids entering high school as they are 3.3-grade levels behind a high social economic status school. This states kids that have the opportunity in going to school still face with the inequality of the ability to learn their fullest potential as a child not being to go at all.

Everyone deserves to have a bright future. To the equality gender, social status or any other factors, we should grow as a society not be isolated in a group of limited success. That includes helping the young generation with any type of learning skill to help them grow to a better future. As Sonia Sotomayor said, “ Until we get equality in education, we won't have an equal society”.Based on the lack of equality in education; the lack being gender equality and economic status. By bringing light to this lack of equality I bring light to why everyone should have the equal education with the same resources.

No Matter your Occupation, Water Conservation is your Obligation.

This class is called  water class. This class is about the awareness of water using math and science. Comparing our personal water usage to places that are dealing with the water crisis. We learned places around the world including America that had a water crisis. We also had a hands on experience on how people have a long walk to water.

We first started off  by guessing how much water we think we use in a day. I thought I wasted 3 gallons of water a day but little did I know I was not even close. We moved on to calculating what we use or do in a daily bases that involves water and my total was 70.95 gallons a day. My total consumption of water shocked me in a way of sympathy. As we were also learning about our individual water usage we also learned about different places around the world who are living a water crisis trying to survive while i'm over here not even thinking about water at all. As we got a closer look in our nearest water source I found out mine is 12.4 miles away. The time it would take me to take my daily water usage to my nearest water source it would be 62411.59 hrs. Once I got this information I started to think what if we had a drought in Chicago and with the same type of resources as the family from Bolivia in the documentary I would literally be on the edge of surviving.

The country I chose was Mexico. Mexico daily water usage is 98.8003 gallons. My daily water usage compared to Mexico is lower by 27.85 gallons. I kinda expected to have a lower water usage knowing it does get pretty hot compared  to Chicago so I think water is a more necessity. My FE experience made me connect with our learning in another level. I came in n this experience motivated to carry a lot of water and wanting muscles by the end. Sadly I did not complete any of my goals but I did give major respect for people doing this. Once we started walking it felt like I was in a competition with the water to see who can get annoyed the quickest. It took me a long time to carry it all the way to the corner break time. I tried many times to attempt different ways of carrying my bucket but failed. That was when I traded with zac and he started to also have a fight with a bucket while I was fine with carrying his one gallon bucket. Lastly I was just happy it was over with and only had to experience this for few minutes as many people can't say that themselves as this is their life.
